SAN JOSE — The Knights were in a celebratory mood after doing something no other softball team in the history of Soquel High had done before.
The pitching and hitting of Anna Gurr are two of the reasons for the historic feat, as Soquel defeated Capuchino 4-1 in the Central Coast Section Division III semifinals on Wednesday at PAL Stadium.
The win was the Knights’ first-ever semifinal victory in school history, and they’ll play for the championship in less than 72 hours back at PAL Stadium.
Gurr pitched scoreless softball for the first six innings, allowing only three hits while striking out one.
“Anna is so clutch,” said Soquel coach Shawn Gallardo. “She did it on the mound and at the plate.”
