Mary Jane Riordan-Dunn died May 19, 2012, at Wesley House in Watsonville. She was 90. A native of Watsonville, she lived her entire life here. Mrs. Dunn attended Notre Dame Grammar School, Watsonville High School, and Hartnell College. She worked for Kaiser Refractories as an assistant controller for 35 years before retiring. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served on the American Cancer Society board for many years. She loved her garden and always loved gatherings and dinners with family and friends. Travelling was another passion, and she visited many destinations in the U.S. and in Europe with her long-time friends, Ruth Gross and Betty Lou Tipton.
Mrs. Dunn leaves her children, Patrick Michael Riordan and Marilee Alaga; her 5 grandchildren, Annette (Daniel) Regalia, Peter Nick Alaga, Stephen John Alaga, Michael Riordan, and Alexa Riordan; 3 great-granddaughters, Jordan, Mackenzie and Grace Alaga; nephew, Bill (Karen) Moncovich; nieces, Jane (Jim) Moresco and Pamela Webb, and several great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dunn; the father of her children, Jack Riordan; 2 sisters, Katherine (William) Webb and Helen (John) Moncovich, 3 nephews, William Webb, John Moncovich, and Gregory Moresco. Her family would also like to acknowledge and thank her longtime caregivers and friends, Angel Sanchez and Ana Ruvalcaba. She will be missed by all.
A rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady Help of Christians (Valley Catholic) Church. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Donations are preferred to the Gregory Moresco Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Francis Catholic High School or American Cancer Society.
