Watsonville boxer Oscar Godoy won his first fight of the year, defeating Jaime Del Cid who quit after two rounds during their bout on Saturday in Woodland.
Godoy improved to 5-2 as a professional. The win comes four months after he was knocked out in Chula Vista.
This time, Godoy was the one delivering the hits as Del Cid didn’t do much to counter.
After the second round was over, Del Cid told his trainer he did not want to continue. The bout was scheduled for six rounds.
Godoy said he knew right away he had the mental advantage.
“He didn’t have anything,” Godoy said. “He didn’t hit me. I didn’t think it was going to be a tough fight.”
