WATSONVILLE — Louis Robert Switzer died on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. He was 82.
Mr. Switzer was born in Michigan City, Indiana and later moved to San Diego where he became a proud member of the United States Navy. After serving in the Korean Conflict, Mr. Switzer returned to San Diego where he met and married his wife of 62 years, Patsy.
They eventually moved to the high desert area of Apple Valley; where they raised their five children; Patricia of San Diego, California, Kara of Olympia, Washington, Joseph of Aptos, Julie of Carson City, Nevada, and Victoria of San Bernardino, California. Mr. Switzer was often heard telling his friends how proud he was of his children; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Switzer have lived in Pajaro Village in Watsonville for the past seven years.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Switzer’s family requests donations to Hospice of Santa Cruz County 940 Disc Dr. Scotts Valley, CA 95066 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Valley Catholic Church, 2401 E. Lake Ave. Watsonville, on Friday at 3 p.m. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
