WATSONVILLE — The ninth annual family-oriented Earth Day/Day of the Child unfolded Sunday in Ramsay Park.
The free event served as a staging area for a host of environmental conservation oriented activities for all ages as well as games, performances and arts and crafts.
Put on by City of Watsonville Public Works and Utilities and Parks and Community Services departments, the four-hour event featured more than 60 interactive booths and drew more than 3,000 people, said senior administrative analyst Doug Mattos, who heads the event up.
“It went smooth,” Mattos said. “The weather wasn’t really cooperative and attendance was down a bit. Still, everyone was in great spirits. We definitely had the right audience to get our message out to.”
