WATSONVILLE — It was another Monday for Bradley Elementary School's Library Media Technician Teri De La Torre, until she found out early in the morning that she was chosen as the 2012 Santa Cruz County Reading Association's Librarian of the Year.

"I'm in shock, it's a complete surprise for me," De La Torre said. "I haven't had a lot of time to think about it. I'm elated, very excited ... to be chosen is such an honor."

De La Torre has been with Bradley Elementary for seven years, and with the district for the past 17. She was also a student at Bradley herself during her elementary school days.

"She is a natural leader and someone who inspires every member of the school community: staff, students and parents," said Kathy Arola, Bradley Elementary's principal.
