Suspects nabbed in home burglary

WATSONVILLE — Two men were arrested Thursday following an alleged interrupted residential burglary and a chase with police.

Manual George Terra, 21, of Sacramento and Robert Dee Davis, 27, of Salinas were taken into custody on Casserly Road at gunpoint just before 11 a.m.

The incident began at 10:12 a.m. when a woman called police to report a burglary in progress, said Sgt. Steve Carney of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. She was able to provide a vehicle and suspect description after the suspects left her residence.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and began a search. Within 40 minutes, deputy Jason Dunn spotted the vehicle near Casserly and Webb roads. Dunn attempted to the stop the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Salinas. A brief pursuit ensued. The suspects careened off of the 400 block of Casserly Road into SuncrestNurseries Inc. The suspect vehicle, a green Honda Civic, collided with two parked vehicles before both suspects fled on foot from the vehicle, Carney said.

Terra was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. Davis, the driver, was found hiding in a nearby creek about 15 minutes later and was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies recovered the victims’ stolen property from the suspect’s vehicle, including flat screen televisions, a laptop computer, personal items, power tools, kitchen appliances and other goods. Additional property believed to be stolen from other burglaries was found in the vehicle as well, Carney said. 


There do not appear to be any additional suspects.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the suspects are responsible for the recent wave of residential burglaries in Aptos.

Davis and Terra were charged with evading police, being in possession of a stolen vehicle and being in the possession of stolen property.

The suspect’s stolen vehicle is described as a blue mid-90’s Honda two-door sedan with a black primer-colored front end.
