WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville High boys volleyball team can finally use the term it hasn’t in years past: playoff push.
The Wildcatz took another step toward the postseason with a 25-18, 25-10, 25-16 victory over Christopher on Thursday.
With the win, Watsonville improved to 9-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League’s Coastal Division. It’s in second place behind division-leading Monterey. With Monterey losing to Hollister, the Wildcatz are one game back for first.
Four teams advance to the T-CAL postseason tournament, and Watsonville has a 4-game lead over rival Pajaro Valley in the hunt for a postseason berth.
“This is a very exciting time,” said Watsonville coach Derrick Moore. “This hasn’t happened before in the history of Watsonville. The players feel it, and they want it.”
