Tillie Enriquez

Tillie H. Enriquez died after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.  She was 77.

Mrs. Enriquez was born in Santa Maria to Pedro and Jovita Hernandez on December 19, 1934. She was a lifetime resident of Watsonville, a longtime residence of Country Villa, and a member of the Full Gospel Church of Las Lomas. Mrs. Enriquez worked as a laborer for over 20 years in the canneries and for Stephan Scurich Orchards.  She was an avid reader of books and media of all kind and liked to paint and do arts and crafts.  She loved to sing, especially gospel songs and was a huge Elvis fan.  Mrs. Enriquez had a great smile, was very social, knew everyone, and always said hello.  She was always cheerful, a generally happy person, and always willing to stand up for people.

Mrs. Enriquez is survived by her sisters, Mary Sanchez, Jessie Yniguez, Teresa Baisa, Mary Lou Preciado, and Cecelia Choate; and her brothers Ponciano and Robert Hernandez.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Enriquez; brothers, Emilio, Peter, and Thomas Hernandez; and sisters, Lupe Marquez and Maria Jovita Yannone.

A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Monday from 5-9 p.m.  Services will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
