MOSS LANDING — Anglers will be in a hurry to head out into Monterey Bay early on Saturday as recreational salmon season reopens for 2012. Thousands of anglers around California typically flock to the open seas in hopes of bringing home their catch of king salmon.
Commercial fisherman Joe Tomasello said Tuesday that he had heard reports that the season might be promising.
“Of course, you can never tell until you’re out there in the water,” he said, “but there have been a few good reports.”
Tomasello said the Santa Cruz Harbor transforms into a bustling hub of activity as sports fishing boats of all kinds head out onto the Pacific.
