Juan Pablo Lopez-Ruiz died unexpectedly Sunday in Castroville. He was 35.
A native of Michoacán, Mexico, Mr. Lopez-Ruiz lived in Watsonville for 15 years. He worked as a nurseryman for seven years and enjoyed dancing, singing and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Mr. Lopez-Ruiz was known as always having a smile on his face and being ready to help others in whatever way he could.
Mr. Lopez-Ruiz is survived by his wife, Gloria Elias-Lopez of Watsonville; parents, Gloria and Salvador Lopez of Mexico; five brothers, Demetrio of Mexico, Simon and Carlos of Watsonville, Antonio of Salt Lake City, and Salvador of Mexico; two sisters, Adriana and Martha of Mexico; four nephews and one niece.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Castroville. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Watsonville.
