Richard John Selden died Monday, November 30, 2009, in Medford, Ore., with his children and granddaughter by his side. He was 61.

Born in Watsonville, Mr. Selden enlisted and served with the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school. He worked in California, Oregon and on the East Coast until 2000, when he and his soul mate moved to Atascadero, where he last worked for Madonna Paving Co. He loved cooking, gardening, sports, fishing and traveling. During his yearlong battle with cancer, he was cared for by his siblings and their families.

Mr. Selden is survived by his children, Chris and Amanda (Chris) Barr; brother Bill; sisters, Barbara (Larry) Rocha and Susan (Robert) Tifft; sister-in-law, Sharon; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Steven; and soul mate, Linda Barr.
