WATSONVILLE — Francisco “Ruben” J. Lara died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was 68.
Mr. Lara was born on Dec. 14, 1948 to Victoria Lara. He loved spending time with his family, going to the flea market and golfing with his grandchildren. His most prized possession was his 1948 Cadillac. He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, Warriors and Oakland A’s.
Mr. Lara is survived by his wife, Mary Lara; four children, Ruben, Rene, Ray Lara and Monica (Anthony) Rodriguez; five sisters, Maria Lopez, Reyna Alejo, Teodora Lopez Lara, Marcela Pichardo, and Dora Lopez; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Lopez; and sister, Rosa Martinez.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, March 23 from 5-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Green Valley Christian Center on Friday, March 24 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
