WATSONVILLE — Odilia Segura died surrounded by her family on Monday, June 9, 2014. She was 95.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1918 to Juanita Soto and Manual Rodriguez. Mrs. Segura cared for her entire family, especially her children. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed watching her novelas. One of her proudest accomplishments was obtaining her U.S. citizenship at the age of 80. Mrs. Segura was the last of her generation.
Mrs. Segura was preceded in death by her husband, Donato; two children, Donato Jr., and Alicia; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her nine children, Mary, Armando (Mary), Art (Janie), Angel, Richard, Olivia, David (Espe) Joe, and Albert (Anita); 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, June 12 from 5-9 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Assumption Church in Pajaro and burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
