WATSONVILLE — Robert Lopez Diaz died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his Watsonville home on January 12, 2014. He was 85.
Mr. Lopez was born in Michoacán, Mexico to Pedro Lopez Avila and Fortunata Diaz Vega on April 12, 1928. He had been a resident of Watsonville for 43 years. His most recent employment was at Birds Eye Foods. He was a very responsible person and a hard worker. He was a man of faith that was so fervent to his Catholic religion.
He is survived by his wife, Basilisa Jacobo; eight sons, Salvador, Ranulfo, Ignacio, Rogelio, Jose, Joel, Martin, and Roberto Lopez; four daughters, Aurora, Angelita, Lourdes, and Silvia Lopez; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 5-9 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Burial will take place in Mexico.
