Ernie Araiza (EJ) passed peacefully in his family home early Monday morning, December 30, 2013.
EJ was born on July 3rd, 1975 in Santa Cruz, California. He attended local Watsonville schools and graduated from Kennedy High School in Fremont. He also attended the California School for the Blind also in Fremont, California. EJ began his life visually impaired but never let that stop him from doing what he loved. He had a passion for drawing, writing and going to the movies with his niece, nephews and cousins. He was a die-hard Sharks fan and loved watching the Rock and WWE. He was an avid beer taster with a pallet like no other. EJ was a movie collector a trivia whiz and enjoyed watching his favorite television shows…The Simpsons and Family Guy. Ernie also loved going to concerts and visiting Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas.
Ernie’s greatest passion was the love for his best friend and guide dog Nasa. Nasa and Ernie were never apart since they met in April, 2010.
On his journey to Heaven EJ will be missed and forever remembered by his family. His parents Ernest and Terri Araiza, his sister Amy (Jimmy) Saldate, niece Macie and nephews Chase and Logan, grandparents Juanita Peterson and Manuel and Rose Araiza. He leaves many uncles, aunts and cousins.
A “Celebration of Life” for Ernie (EJ) will be held Saturday, January 11, at 12pm at Green Valley Christian Center in Watsonville. Ernie wanted to raise the awareness for the need of donations for “Guide Dogs for the Blind”. In lieu of flowers in Ernie’s memory, donations may be made to: Guide Dogs for the Blind, 790 W 8th Street, Gilroy, CA 95020. Arrangements are being handled by Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
