Long-time Watsonville resident
1949 – 2013
With his faithful pet Goldie by his side, surrounded by his family, Eddie Dean Penrod born in Bakersfield, California on August 15, 1949, to Mildred and Percy Penrod, went home to our Lord on September 16, 2013, after losing his battle with ALS, joining his loving wife Rosanna, his father and his sisters Ramona Faye Garner and Patsy Ruth Branham.
Eddie Dean was a "cowboy at heart," loved his ribs, tacos and watching old westerns and the "Three Stooges". A 1969 graduate of Mt. View High School in Mt. View, California, he married the love of his life on September 13, 1975, making a home in the Santa Cruz/Watsonville, California area until recently moving to Modesto where he was lovingly cared for until his passing by his niece, Terry Crane, his "angel on earth" and his nephew Joe Hinkle.
A beloved son, brother, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in-law, husband and Uncle to three generations, he loved everyone he met, was loved by all he met and was always one to help anyone in need with his gentle and kind ways, never with an unkind word and always with a childlike innocence and a special "sparkle" in his eye.
His surviving siblings Joann Baker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bobbie Cronklin of Sunnyvale, California, Victor Penrod of Manteca, California, Jim Penrod of Milpitas, California, as well as Rosanna's family, but especially his Mother, will forever hold his memory close to their hearts, for Eddie Dean was "one of a kind".
Please join Eddie Dean's family on October 19, 2013 at 1:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Oasis of Hope Church in Riverbank, California, to pay tribute, to celebrate and to remember this special man. Cowboy hats welcome!!For the complete article see the 10-12-2013 issue.
