WATSONVILLE — Antonio De La Torre died on Friday, September 27, 2013, with his family by his side. He was 71.
He was born to Juan and Maria De La Torre on Feb.14, 1942, in San Juan De Los Lagos, Jalisco Mexico. Mr. De La Torre was the fifth of nine kids. He came to California in 1974 to better his family’s future.
He loved landscaping; he worked for many years at Monterey Bay Nursery. He loved cooking and having family gatherings. He loved playing poker with his brothers, sons and family.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters; his wife of 48 years, Juana De La Torre; his nine children, 34 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to help family with funeral cost are preferred. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-9 p.m. with the Vigil to begin at 6 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at Valley Catholic Church with internment to follow at Valley Public Cemetery, Watsonville.
Arrangements have been entrusted in the care of the Carroll Family of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel of Watsonville.
