Richard Bivins

PRUNEDALE ó Richard Pomeroy Bivins died at his home in Prunedale after a battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was 62.

Mr. Bivins was born on Feb. 18, 1951, at Watsonville Community Hospital to Henry Holmes Bivins and Naomi Pomeroy Bivins.†He graduated from the Watsonville High Class of 1969. He was a very talented musician, songwriter, and showman and was in many bands.†Mr. Bivins was a loving father who worked very hard to provide for his family driving trucks for 44 years.

Mr. Bivins is survived his wife of 25 years, Janneene (Elmer) Bivins; children, Laurel (Aaron) Sota, Matthew (Joey) Bivins, Vanny (Eric) Halverson, Sarina Bivins, Jacob Bivins, Savannah Bivins, Kasarah (Kristofer) Carlson, Zack Toleman and Ross McGrath; 15 grandchildren; brother, Robert (Gaye) Bivins; mother-in-law, Dorothy Elmer; sister-in-laws, Patty (Bob) Stevenson and Connie Elmer (Tony) Akin; brother-in-law, Tony (Diane) Elmer; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to acct #2261567529 or directly to Mehlís Colonial Chapel to help offset the cost of services.

A family and friends prayer will be held on June 22 at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 255 Holm Rd., Watsonville.† Arrangements were entrusted to Mehlís Colonial Chapel.
