The elegant matriarch of our family is with the angels. Concepcion Montoya, “Connie” passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the age of 98. A resident of Watsonville for over 60 years, Connie was devoted wife of David Montoya, who predeceased her 12 years ago. She raised three children, Ofelia, Joe and Hank.
Connie was very devoted to her Catholic Faith. She was a longtime member of the Guadalupe Society and valued member of both the Assumption Church and St. Patrick’s Church. Connie and David were avid fundraisers and will be remembered for their wonderful decoration of the churches each year at Christmas. Connie will also be remembered for her many donations of clothing to those in need. Never judgmental, Connie was filled with love for her church, her family and her friends.
Connie and David loved to dance and traveled throughout California, with the Guadalupe Society, to enjoy their passions whenever possible. In their early retirement years, they became world travelers and visited China, Egypt, Israel, Italy and Mexico. Always a hard worker, she loved to tell stories of her early years in Arizona as a retail clerk in a general store. However, her fondest memories were of dancing and meeting the love of her life, David, at one of those dances.
Memorial contributions in Connie’s memory are suggested to the Moreland Notre Dame School, 133 Brennan St., Watsonville, CA 95076
