WATSONVILLE — James S. Fu, husband, father, relative and friend, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Watsonville.
Mr. Fu was born on March 6, 1936, in Zhejiang Province, China. When the Communists took over China, his father and some of his siblings went to Taiwan in Feb. 1949. He graduated National Taiwan University with a B.A. in english literature. After receiving his Ph.D. in comparative literature from Indiana University Bloomington, he became a professor and taught at National Taiwan University, Singapore University, and National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan. He retired in 2001 and lived in Watsonville with his wife.
Mr. Fu is survived by his wife of 42 years, May Lay Fu; and only child, Irene Fu Khor; one brother and four sisters.
Viewing will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. a memorial service will be held on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville. Graveside service will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Road in Watsonville.
