WATSONVILLE — Juan Tabol Reyes died at Watsonville Community Hospital on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was 110.
Mr. Reyes was born in Makato, Aklan, Philippines to Demetrio and Faustina Reyes. He moved to this area in the early 1970s with his late wife, whom he married in 1936. Mr. Reyes was a fisherman for 30 years before retiring. He was very proud to be elected as a Barangay Captain in the Philippines. He belonged to the Filipino Community of Watsonville.
Mr. Reyes is survived by his daughters, Nelly Bustamante of the Philippines, Luzviminda Irao of San Diego, daughter-in-law Lydia Reyes, daughters, Artura Iguban, Nifosima Tefora (Levy) and Agnifita Reyes all of Watsonville; son, Real Reyes (Luna) of Watsonville; 28 grandchildren plus in-laws; 46 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Alindato Reyes and sons, Hugo Bustamante and Vislumino Reyes.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel today from 5-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 3-9 p.m. with the Rosary/Vigil at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church at 10 a.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
