WATSONVILLE — Candelaria Guillen Zepeda, a longtime resident of Watsonville, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013. She was 85.
Mrs. Zepeda was born in Floresville, Texas, on Sept. 25, 1927, to Filipe and Inez Guillen. She enjoyed watching her Mexican Novellas and loved to cook for her family. Even though she worked all of her life, she always had time for family. She was known as a very fine person who was good and generous to everyone and a grandmother to more than just her family.
Mrs. Zepeda is survived by her husband of 53 years, José Zepeda; her son, Fernando Garcia; her daughters, Herminia Salas and Octaviana Serriteño; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Valley Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
