Longtime Watsonville resident Linda Ardell Tuzon died on January 31, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. She was 75.
Mrs. Tuzon was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on June 11, 1937 and was raised in California. In 1954 she married Modesto J. Tuzon and began raising their children, Modesto O. (Lanny) and Rita, in Watsonville.† She began her 40-year career in education in 1966, first as a classroom instructional aide and later as a reading resource specialist at Hall District School. She was a passionate advocate for literacy and continued volunteering with reading proficiency programs after retirement.
Mrs. Tuzon was widowed in 1981. In addition to her son Modesto and daughter Rita, she leaves behind her longtime companion of 30 years, Ichiro (Sam) Sugidono, and her grandchildren Jared and Sophia Stone, son-in-law Rick Stone, sister Patricia Week, sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Joel Fleharty, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place†on Sunday, February 10th at 2:30 p.m.†at the Dodge Chapel on the Asilomar Conference Grounds, 800 Asilomar Avenue, Pacific Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Hall District School for their library in memory of Linda Ardell Tuzon.
