WATSONVILLE — Denny Hord died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, in his home. He was 57.
Mr. Hord was a professional truck driver then went on to become a heavy equipment operator and mechanic working for Don Gilbertson and Son. He started writing poetry on the road as a truck driver and even composed a few songs. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. Mr. Hord was a caring family man that enjoyed listening to music being out in nature and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Hord is survived by his children, Katie (Shannon Benson) Harney of Salinas and Shawn Hord of Sacramento; sisters, Cynthia Hord of Watsonville and Sherry Hord of Modesto; longtime companion, Wesley Friedland; uncle, aunt and four grandchildren. Mr. Hord was preceded in death by his brothers, Benny and Kenny Hord.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Castroville Cemetery in Moss Landing.
