WATSONVILLE — Maria Carmen Martinez Colin died on Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was 92.
Mrs. Martinez was born in Michoacán, Mexico, on January 22, 1920. It was here in Watsonville where she and her late-husband settled down more than 25 years ago.
She enjoyed cooking for her family and being with her grandchildren. She also liked to listen to music and in her younger years, she loved to dance. Mrs. Martinez was a devoted and very religious person.
She is survived by her five sons, Fidencio, Jesus, Jose Nau, Jose Alfredo and Rogelio Martinez; and six daughters, Maria de la Luz, Maria Erindira, Maria Elena, Maria Rosario, Paloma and Maria del Carmen Martinez; 40 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Teodulo Martinez in 2008.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel today from 5-9 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church in Pajaro. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
