WATSONVILLE — Nita Gonzalez, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
Born in Malvern, Ark., Ms. Gonzalez grew up under the care of nine aunts and one uncle until she moved to California and joined the Navy during WWII. She made California her home, first in the Los Angeles area, later in Silicon Valley and for the past thirty years in Santa Cruz County.
She raised her family of three children while pursuing a successful career as a human resources executive in the aerospace and high tech industries first in Los Angeles and later in Silicon Valley. After moving to Santa Cruz County, Ms. Gonzalez embarked on a career in real estate sales and property management, serving as an agent with several firms in the area. She moved to Watsonville in 1986 and was affiliated with the firm of Hall Kane Palmtag up until her death. She served on the Watsonville Planning Commission and on the Santa Cruz County Grand jury. She was a passionate supporter and volunteer for the Elkhorn Slough Foundation in Watsonville.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettina Kruzel; son, Pablo Gonzalez; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nita Gonzalez.
