SANTA CRUZ — Helen Eleanor Rodriguez of Santa Cruz died peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, surrounded by family. She was 91.
Born on July 28, 1921 on a ranch in Laguna, south of Davenport, to Carlo and Angelina Doglione, Mrs. Rodriguez lived her entire life in Santa Cruz County, graduating from Santa Cruz High School. On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Joseph Frank Rodriguez and together they raised their family.
Mrs. Rodriguez was a stay-at-home mom to her daughters, until they entered school; then went to work at Santa Cruz High School in the cafeteria. After a few years, she joined the staff at UCSC, preparing breakfast and lunch at Cowell-Stevenson College, until retiring to care for her husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; daughter, Katherine; brothers, Domenico, Pietro; and sister, Mary Julia. She is survived by her two daughters, Terry (Marc) Petty from Lakeside, Ore. and Frances (Mike) Botzon from Aptos; two grandchildren, three great-grand children; and many nieces and nephews.
