Georgie Ayers passed away on Saturday. She was 94. Georgie was born and raised in Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. After moving to the Watsonville area she went to pack lettuce for T.O Tomosello and later worked at the Watsonville Cannery for 27 years. She attended Arthur Road Baptist Church and loved to go on trips with other senior citizens from Watsonville Parks and Recreation as well as putting together puzzles. She was an avid reader and loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Georgie was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Ayers, daughter, Gertrude Cureton, son Donald Ayers and grandson David Cureton.
She is survived by her children Raymond (Betty) Ayers of Salinas, Phillip (Georgia) Ayers of Ben Lomond, Hazel Skoglund, Norman (Kathy) Ayers and Carol Ann (Adrian) Sales all of Watsonville. She also leaves behind twenty eight grandchildren fifty two great grandchildren and thirty great great-grandchildren scattered all across the U.S as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday August 6th from 5-9pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made, to the charity of your choice, in her name. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Patrick and Debbie Carroll of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
