WATSONVILLE — Michael R. Martinez lived all his life in Watsonville, attending Linscott Elementary and Mintie White Elementary and E.A. Hall Junior High, and graduated from Watsonville High School.
He married Rita Galvan, and together they lived in Watsonville and raised their three children, Reginald and the twins, Kristopher and Kristy.
He worked at the old Fox Theater in downtown Watsonville when he was a young man. When he got older he went on to work for Couch Distributing in 1978. At first he was a route driver but worked himself up to night crew supervisor and later became a daytime warehouse supervisor.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his mother, Rosie Martinez; brother, Martin Martinez; sisters, Theresa Ancira , Rosemarie (Ignacio) Martinez , Gloria (Alan) Cursi and Irene (Tony) Leyva and a daughter-in-law, Angelica Martinez; two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mike Perez, sister-in-law, Glenda Martinez and brother-in-law, Mario Ancira.
Visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated also at St. Patrick’s on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
