WATSONVILLE — Martha Sanchez Diaz, longtime resident of Watsonville, died on Saturday, July 28, 2012. She was 59.
Ms. Sanchez Diaz was born in Jacona, Michoacan on Oct. 10, 1952 and grew up in El Colesio. She moved to Santa Cruz County in 1972 and worked various jobs in agriculture, flowers, cannery, and packing. She worked for Faurot Ranch for the last seven years. She loved going to yard sales, attending church, and was a great cook. She was a very kind hearted, forgiving, and never held a grudge. She cared for many and worked hard her entire life.
Ms. Sanchez Diaz is survived by her son, Hugo Diaz-Sanchez and his wife Carmen Saavedra; daughter, Karina Diaz-Sanchez; brother, Carlos Diaz; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jesus Diaz-Sanchez.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel today from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Pajaro on Friday at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
