Marina Martinez

SALINAS — Marina Sanchez Martinez, resident of Salinas, died at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 16, 2012. She was 94.

Mrs. Sanchez was born in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico on Nov. 28, 1917 to Nolberto Sanchez and Eufemia Martinez. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with them and cooking for them. She also enjoyed sewing, hand embroidery and gardening.

Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her sons, Lorenzo, Felipe, and Eulogio Vargas; daughters, Fidelina and Cristina Vargas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezequiel Vargas.

A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel today from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m.  Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Pajaro on Friday at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
