WATSONVILLE — Richard Paul Wattel died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was 62.
Mr. Wattel was a long-term resident of Watsonville and had an associate’s degree in business. He was in the retail business and sold flowers and other commodities in Watsonville. He had many friends and relatives in Watsonville. Mr. Wattel was in the Navy from March 29, 1969 to July 25, 1969, and served on a submarine. He was a loving father and devoted son, brother and friend to all, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Wattel is survived by his wife, Nellie Wattel of Klamath Falls, Ore.; sister, Jan Hale of Jackson, Fla.; step-daughter Billie Jean Alcala (Mellentine) and brother-in-law David Mellentine of Watsonville. He was preceded in death by his step-son WIlbur Dale Riley, Jr., and step-daughter April Roseann Riley.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Mr. Wattel’s life at Pinto Lake County Park at 1 p.m. on July 28.
