WATSONVILLE — Amiko Kusumoto, resident of Watsonville, died at Valley Convalescent Hospital on Sunday, July 8, 2012. She was 93.
Mrs. Kusumoto was born in Brawley, Calif. on Feb. 23, 1919. Following interment during World War II, Mrs. Kusumoto and her husband Kajizo returned to Watsonville. This also marked the beginning of years in strawberry farming, mostly associated with Driscoll, lasting until retirement in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kajizo Kusumoto; sisters, Chieko Yamada, Masumi Kusumoto, Tazuko Horiye, Miyuki Yamada, and Takuye Yamada. She is survived by her sons, Roy Kusumoto (Jo-Ann), Fred Kusumoto and Lee Kusumoto; sister, Sadako Yamada; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service today at 2 p.m. at Watsonville Buddhist Temple located at 427 Bridge St., Watsonville. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Patrick and Debbi Carroll Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 724-4751.
