Rita Pezzini Liptak, long time resident of Watsonville, passed away at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 5, 2012. She died peacefully with family members by her side. She was 75.
Born in Carmel on April 24, 1937 to John and Margaret Pezzini, Rita was one of three children. She grew up on the family’s artichoke ranch and attended local schools.
Rita married William Liptak on August 20, 1960. They were married 51 years. She spent much of her life as a devoted wife and mother. Rita was happiest spending time with her family. She cherished her grandchildren and was tremendously proud of them.
Rita was actively involved with her church and was devoted to her faith. She was an avid sports fan and centered many family gatherings around sporting events. She enjoyed music, cooking, playing cards and slots. Rita left her family with many wonderful memories. She will be deeply missed.
She leaves her loving husband, William Liptak; daughter, Laura Fujii and son-in-law, Bruce Fujii of La Selva Beach; son, Michael Liptak and daughter-in-law, Samantha Liptak of Salinas; grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Liptak and Morgan Noelle Liptak; sister, Valentina Pezzini of Watsonville; and brother-in-laws, Frank Kurtz, Robert Liptak and Fr. Edward Liptak S.D.B. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret; son, James and sister, Agnes Kurtz.
A memorial Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 11th at Our Lady Help of Christians Valley Catholic Church, 2401 E. Lake Ave. Watsonville. Graveside services will immediately follow at Valley Catholic Cemetery. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave. Watsonville, was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
