Gabriel M. Brazil-Hunter died unexpectedly in Watsonville April 6, 2012. He was 32. A native of Santa Cruz, he grew up in Santa Cruz County graduating from Loma Prieta High School. He started working at the Shadowbrook Restaurant in July, 1998, and continued there until 2001 when he moved to Sacramento. Gabe returned to Santa Cruz and Shadowbrook in 2006.
Gabe was an avid long-distance cyclist and also enjoyed basketball and reading. He had traveled to Bali and was looking forward to another trip there soon. He had an uncanny gift of meeting people and connecting and touched many from all age groups and walks of life. In November he adopted Ludo from the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter, and he became his best friend and constant companion.
Gabe is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Debra, his grandparents, Patricia and Daniel Brazil, and his aunt, Patricia Nelson. He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Jackie and Doug Saucedo, of Watsonville, his dog, Ludo, and countless friends.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at Valley Public Cemetery, 2445 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville. Donations are preferred to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter , 2200 7th Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Arrangements are under the direction of Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
