The Aptos High wrestling team defeated host Soquel 33-24 on Wednesday to move within a win of finishing the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League dual-meet season with an undefeated record.

The Mariners, who rested several of their top wrestlers, improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in league play, with a clash against defending SCCAL champion Santa Cruz set for Monday, followed by the league finals on Feb. 11 at Scotts Valley High.

Against Soquel, Carson Keys (152 pounds), Jacob Carr (160) and Frank Ramirez (189) each won by pin, Joe Else (140) won 10-7 and Garrett Nichols (145) and Christian Bowen (171) won by forfeit.

Watsonville 53, Seaside 12

The Wildcatz dominated the host Spartans in a Monterey Bay League dual meet Wednesday.

For Watsonville, Roger Contreras (112), Emily Kalka (130), Hector Medina (160) and Eric Carmona (215) won by pin, while Abraham Ortiz (119) won by major decision, 15-2. Andrew Vasquez (135), Nathan Brown (145), Carlos Iglesias (152) and Saul Carrillo (heavyweight) won by forfeit.
