Watsonville High’s Maximilian Ramirez IV won the 16-18 division at the Carmel Valley Classic golf tournament on Monday.

Ramirez, who advanced to the Central Coast Section Regionals as a freshman last season, sunk a trio of birdies and fired a 7-over Par 77 to win the tournament.



• Aptos 1, SLV 0 - Monserrat Hernandez scored her 20th goal of the season to push the Aptos Mariners’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League unbeaten streak to 39 games in a 1-0 win over San Lorenzo Valley on Tuesday.

Lauren Inman had the assist for Aptos (14-2-1, 11-0), which will try to become the first SCCAL team since the turn of the century to finish with a perfect 12-0 record in league play on Thursday against Scotts Valley at 7 p.m.



• Santa Cruz 51, St. Francis 50 - The St. Francis Sharks lost 51-50 to Santa Cruz in the first round of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tournament on Monday night.

Janiya Sevilla had 19 points and Megan Kelly added 11 for St. Francis (12-9), which will await its Central Coast Section playoff fate this weekend.

• NMC 49, Watsonville 48 - The Watsonville Wildcatz had their shot at the Monterey Bay League Pacific division title come up short in a 49-48 loss to North Monterey County on Tuesday.

Evelyn Rios had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Jackie Barocio added nine points and nine rebounds.

Watsonville (16-7, 8-3), which will hope it will move onto the Central Coast Section playoffs as an at-large team, will play the MBL-P champion Seaside today at 7 p.m. in their regular season finale.

North Monterey County ends its regular season at 11-10 overall and 8-4 in league play.

• Alvarez 51, Pajaro Valley 33 - The Pajaro Valley Grizzlies fell 51-33 to the Alvarez Eagles on Tuesday night in Monterey Bay League Pacific division play.

Pajaro Valley (7-13, 2-8) closes out its season today at home at 7 p.m. against Notre Dame-Salinas.



• Delta 8, Cabrillo 3 - Cabrillo College lost 8-3 to Delta College on Tuesday in preseason action.

Clayton Andrews went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two doubles and a walk.

Josh Rodriguez suffered the loss on the mound, allowing nine hits, seven earned runs and three homers in seven innings of action.



• Blue 109, Warriors 100 - In their last action before the NBA All-Star break, the Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Oklahoma City Blue 109-100 on Tuesday night at Cox Convention Center.

James Southerland and Dennis Clifford led the Warriors (18-16) with 17 points apiece. Scott Wood notched a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Phil Pressey also finished with a double-double adding 12 points, 13 assists and six rebounds. LaDontae Henton added 13 points off the bench.
