APTOS --- The Soquel Knights outlasted the St. Francis Central Coast Catholic Sharks 35-19 at Carl Connelly stadium Saturday night.
The Sharks (4-2) kept pace with the Knights (4-2, 1-0) and went into the half trailing by one point, 14-13.
The second half was a different story.
The Knights scored touchdowns on three of their four second-half possessions.
St. Francis didn’t answer the Knights until its final drive, which went 71 yards and culminated with Nick Ciandro dropping in a perfect 24-yard dime to Garrett Saucedo in the corner of the endzone.
It was the third time the two connected for a score.
Ciandro finished 13-21 with 157 yards and two interceptions, both coming in the first half.
Saucedo had nine catches for 98 yards and three scores.
Jonathan Carmona carried 15 times for 51 yards.
The Knights’ eight runners had 285 yards on the ground.
Daniel Fisher had 71 yards and two touchdowns, all coming in the second half.
Isaac Moreno led them with 119 yards. A majority of his yards came on a 48-yard touchdown dash with 3:06 left in the first half.
It gave the Knights the lead for good.
The Sharks will host Lynbrook of San Jose at St. Francis C.C.C. High School Saturday at 2 p.m.
