Posted: Thursday, Jun 27th, 2013

SANTA CRUZ ó While all of Watsonville Americanís best bats and arms prepped to compete for a spot in the Little League World Series, the remaining All-Stars were given the task of trying to keep up with one of the best All-Star teams in the county, and for a small moment they held their own.

A young Watsonville American All-Star roster took their lumps against the Santa Cruz American All-Stars losing 30-2 on Wednesday evening at Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz.

The Watsonville All-Stars hung tough through the first inning only giving up two runs to the undefeated Santa Cruz All-Stars, but from that point on it was all SC. They scored 16 runs in the second inning and put the game well out of reach. Watsonville was able to get on the board. They scored two runs in the second inning. It was just their second and third run of All-Star tournament.

Santa Cruz cruised to the easy win to preserve their unbeaten record in the tournament.

Watsonville will have to wait until Saturday to try and win their first game when they play Aptos, who is also 0-2 in tournament play.
