PVLL: Laine’s 10 strikeouts leads Braves over Padres

Garret Laine had 10 strikeouts through five and a thirds innings and the Braves beat the Padres 9-1 in Pajaro Valley Little League action on Friday evening.

Laine also had a double and two RBIs. Ryan Rivera had three RBIs and a double. Aaron Soto smacked two doubles.

Cody Parker scored the Padres only run.

In other Pajaro Valley Little League action:

•Cubs 13, Giants 5: Dylan Vargas and Jacob Haney both homered for the Cubs as they dismanteled the Giants on Saturday in Watsonville.

Vargas finished with four RBIs and Haney had two. Chris Stanton had a double.

Johnny Ceballos hit a home run for the Giants. Anthony Zamora brought in two runs.

•Padres 11, Braves 8: Thomas Avila had a two RBIs and a double, and the Padres edged out the Braves.

Noel Vega, Eddie Munoz and Cory Parker all had two hits for the Padres.

Garret Laine had a homer and two RBIs for the Braves. Andrew Seymour had two hits.

•Astros 5, Rays 4: The Astros held on to a slim lead for the win over the Rays.

Luke Meyers had a double and two RBIs for the Astros. Reese Selck had two doubles, and Derek Kajisa added a double as well.

Erica Furtado had a double for the Rays.


AAA Minors

• SJA Giants 7, PV Dodgers 4: The SJA Giants beat another Pajaro Valley team on Saturday.

Luke Brothers has two RBIs for the Giants and lead them to the win.

Luke Keaschall had a double, a home run and two RBIs, but it wasn’t enough to push the Dodgers to a win.

• Giants 7, Cardinals 6: The Giant’s Marcus Hernandez brought in two runs during their win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Dumonte Bolden added a double for the Giants.

Diego Orta had a single, a triple and two RBIs for Cards.

• Yankees 9, Athletics 4: Brandon George darted around the bases for an inside-the-park home run during the Yankees win over the Athletics on Saturday.

George had three RBIs at the end of the game.

Nick Bajan hit a triple an Merrick Gonzalez hit two singles for the A’s.
