David Gugale hit a game-winning three-run home run as the St. Francis Central Coast Catholic High baseball team defeated San Lorenzo Valley 6-3 in nine innings on Friday.
Trailing 3-2 with three outs to go, the Sharks got a run in the seventh to force extra innings. The Sharks prevented San Lorenzo Valley from getting a run in the two extra frames before Gugale ended it.
Sahid Valenzuela went 2-for-5, while Josh Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double. Calvin Anderson-Nakagawa was walked three times.
• Monte Vista Christian 7, Christopher 6: At Gilroy, Austin Muller hit a grand slam as the Mustangs held on to win the back-to-back series over the Cougars.
Muller finished 2-for-4. His slam came in a five-run fifth inning.
Christopher scored two runs in the seventh in part because of a dropped pop fly.
Kyle Clark was the winning pitcher, striking out three.
Nelson Pyle got the save. He also went 2-for-3 with a double.
Kai Paresa was 2-for-3, while Nick Matiasevich went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Mustangs head to Salinas on Tuesday to face Palma.
• Scotts Valley 10, Aptos 5: At Aptos, the Mariners lost their first league contest in two years as both teams moved to 1-1 in SCCAL play.
The Falcons improved to 3-0 this season following a loss.
Aptos returns to action today when it plays host to Carlmont.
• Watsonville 10, Pajaro Valley 0: At Watsonville, the Wildcatz continued their recent roll, winning their fourth game in a row.
David Ortiz no-hit Pajaro Valley for the first four innings, striking out nine. Rex Gomez pitched the final two innings, allowing a hit while striking out three.
Dimitrio Navarro, two days after his monster two-homer outing, went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Chris Rivera scored twice and finished 2-for-4.
Watsonville plays host to Alvarez on Monday.
