North Monterey County High wrestler Carlos Anaya tries to escape the grasp of Gilroy High's Victor Olmos during their Monterey Bay League championship match Saturday at Watsonville High (Glenn Cravens/Register-Pajaronian)

WATSONVILLE North Monterey County High wrestler Carlos Anaya sought his third Monterey Bay League championship, but he was ultimately denied by Gilroy's Victor Olmos in their finals contest Saturday evening at Watsonville High.

Anaya lost to Olmos 15-1 in the 128-pound division championship match to take second place.

Both wrestlers got to the finals by pinning their opponent. But in their matchup, Olmos set the tone early and didn't let Anaya get a chance to rally back.

Despite the outcome, Anaya qualified for the Central Coast Section tournament, scheduled to take place later this month.

Another local wrestler headed to CCS is Watsonville's David Ceja. The Wildcat finished third in the 162-pound division.
