APTOS — The Cabrillo College women’s soccer team allowed two goals early in the second half, which prevented any chance of a comeback.

Ohlone rode the momentum of those two goals to a 3-1 victory over the Seahawks on Friday afternoon at Carl Connelly Stadium.

Cabrillo’s lone goal came in the 75th minute. The Seahawks pressured Ohlone and got to within 15 yards of the goal. After a throw-in, the ball was booted into a mass of players just to the right of the goal. Chere Garcia emerged from the pack and kicked it in suddenly for a goal, cutting the home team’s deficit to 3-1.

Cabrillo was on the offensive. Two minutes later, it had a free kick from about 15 yards away, but a header went to the left. The ensuing goal kick by Ohlone nearly hit a Cabrillo forward, who tried to quick-strike the ball. The ball sailed to the right and out of play.

Cabrillo didn’t have too many opportunities after that, as Ohlone killed the remainder of the clock.

“I thought we battled strong, but we gave up a goal on a rough play,” said Cabrillo coach Michael Arzabal.
