The Cabrillo College football team was unable to hold on to its late lead, losing to Los Medanos 35-33 on Saturday night at Carl Connelly Stadium in Aptos.
With 5:51 to play in the game, Michael Behr ran 5 yards for a touchdown to give Los Medanos its second lead of the game. The drive went 44 yards in 2 minutes, 38 seconds.
The Seahawks were unable to answer, as Los Medanos snagged an interception in the end zone to seal the game with less than 10 seconds to go.
Cabrillo fell to 0-1 on the season.
Quarterback Brent Moyer threw for two touchdowns and ran for two other touchdowns to lead Cabrillo’s offense. Moyer finished with 164 yards passing on 14-for-27 passing.
Moyer scored the first touchdown of the game, going in from one yard out to put Cabrillo ahead 7-0 with 5:44 to play in the first quarter.
Dylan Jackson, the team’s leading rusher for the night, ran eight yards for a touchdown to put Cabrillo up 13-3 with 8:16 remaining in the second quarter. Jackson had 191 yards rushing.
David DaRosa and Mario Rodriguez each caught a touchdown pass from Moyer.
Cabrillo dominated in time of possession, having the ball for almost 39 minutes. But it was 5 for 18 on third down but converted all five fourth-down attempts.
