Soquel High grad Casey McGehee made an impact in his first game with the Yankees on Wednesday.

McGehee went 0 for 2 but scored twice and tallied an RBI in the Yankees’ 12-3 rout of the Baltimore Orioles.

The clean-shaven 29-year-old — his beard had to be cut per Yankee clubhouse rules — was unable to get a hit was a part of a scoring binge in the first three innings.

McGehee reached base in the bottom of the second and came home on a single by Derek Jeter. One inning later, he walked and got to third before Jayson Nix hit a ground rule double to bring him home; it was part of a seven-run inning that gave the Yankees an 11-1 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, McGehee hit a ball to the warning track only to be caught for an out. A run scored, giving the Yankees a 12-3 lead.
