Jacques-Maynes 14th overall in Bend

Watsonville native Ben Jacques-Maynes had a rough ride Thursday, finishing 21st in the second stage of the 33rd annual Cascade Cycling Classic in Bend, Ore.

Jacques-Maynes, representing Bissell Pro Cycling, finished the time trial 33 minutes, 1.84 seconds. He was more than 100 seconds behind eventual winner Luis Romero Amaran.

California Giant/Specialized Cycling rider Stephen Leece was seventh in the time trial, finishing at 32:09.84. He was the top rider from Cal Giant/Specialized.

Teammate Robin Eckmann came in 28th at 33:14.84, and Yannick Eckmann was 43rd at 33:51.15.

Overall, Jacques-Maynes is 14th. He is 1:06 behind Romero Amaran, who leads the field by five seconds over the next closest competitor.

Leece is 11th, 51 seconds behind Romero Amaran. Eckmann (38th) and James Mattis (49th) are both in the top 50.

The race continues Friday in the Cascade Lakes region of Bend.
