Aptos beats S.C. in a nail-biter, will play S.V. again

Modified: Saturday, Jul 7th, 2012

SCOTTS VALLEY  — After a seesaw battle Friday evening, the Aptos Little League majors All-Stars came from behind in dramatic fashion to beat the Santa Cruz Nationals 5-4 in the District 39 tournament, setting up a rematch today against Scotts Valley.

Aptos was losing in the bottom of the 6th, when Aiden McAnerny smacked a two-run, walk-off double.

Earlier in the game, Timmy Harris hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. Starting pitcher Forrest Hays also homered for Aptos.

J.T. Vallett got the rally started in the bottom of the sixth with a single. He then advanced to third on two wild pitches.

If Scotts Valley wins today, the tournament ends. If Aptos wins, the two sides will play one last time, due to the double-elimination rules of the tournament.

In other Little League action in the county, the 10-11 Aptos All-Stars also won their tournament game in Watsonville, beating Scotts Valley 10-0. Aptos will play the Santa Cruz American in the championship game.
