SCOTTS VALLEY — Three years ago, the Capitola-Soquel Little League All-Star team battled through the tough District 39 tournament and prevailed.
This year’s squad is trying to emulate the champions of three years ago. They’re on pace so far.
Jackson Dudek hit the game-winning single as part of a three-run rally, and Capitola-Soquel defeated Pajaro Valley 6-5 on Wednesday at Siltanen Park.
With the win, Capitola-Soquel took over first place in its division at 3-0. It is guaranteed to move on to the knockout round, but exactly where it will end up is still to be determined.
It was a busy sixth inning, as both teams put together a lengthy half frame each. Capitola-Soquel, however, got the fatal blow.
