Four teams seeded into CCS volleyball tournaments

Four Santa Cruz County boys volleyball teams qualified for the Central Coast Section tournaments after seeding was announced on Saturday morning.

Mount Madonna, just 24 hours after winning the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tournament title, was tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the Division II tournament. The Hawks won’t have to play until Thursday when it faces either Eastside College Prep or Gilroy.

Pacific Collegiate is the No. 2 seed in Division II and will face Prospect or Monterey on Thursday.

Soquel, with its 17-13 record, is the sixth seed in the Division II tournament; the Knights will travel to San Francisco to face Sacred Heart Cathedral on Thursday.

Watsonville is the county’s lone representative in the Division I tournament. The Wildcatz, having their best season ever, are the 10th and final seed; they travel to Westmont of Campbell for a Tuesday night first-round match.
